Mark Greenway – Location Manager (Q&A for #careerdevelopmentmonth)

As part of November’s Career Development Month we have spoken to a number of our “Green Room” crew whom are part of Location Routes. This week we spoke to Mark Greenway whom is releatively new to the industry but has come a long way in a short amount of time.

1) Tell us about how you got into the Locations or Production Department?

Following a number of years working in property in Central London I made the decision to marry my love for visual media with my knowledge of property and love for architecture. This led to a few years working for location libraries where I learnt about what makes a good location and the sort of rates they can command..I then felt equipped to become a freelancer where I was able to make use of my network to source work in the locations department.

2) What is your biggest achievements and challenges to date so far in your career?

My biggest achievement has been operating as a Location Manager with a skeleton team on a US streamed TV series for 7 months. It was a huge challenge but taught me many lessons!

3) How did you hear about Location Routes?

I heard about it through Oli who I met for the first time at a training day. His calm and assured approach convinced me he would be a great person to learn from.

4) What support has Location Routes been able to give you over the past year?

Location Routes have been a continued source of support when I’ve needed it. Oli’s advice has been invaluable at times and guided me on many decisions. Location Routes has also provided potential work connections which I would otherwise not have been aware of.

5) What are your future aspirations for your career in Locations or Production Department?

I would like to work on projects with a societal impact and ones where my creative input can make a contribution.

Thanks Mark for your insight and continue to grow as a Location Manager! To sign up to our Talent Crew click here.
