Sustainability Policy Version 01 – February 2026
- Introduction and Commitment
Location Routes Management Ltd is committed to operating responsibly and minimising our environmental impact across all activities. As a location agency supporting film, TV, commercials, and independent productions, we recognise that travel, transport, energy use, and material choices are key sources of carbon emissions and waste in our sector.
We support the goals of the UK screen industry’s albert framework to reduce carbon emissions, eliminate waste, and embed sustainable practices. While we are a small company, we aim to align with albert principles by:
- Measuring and reducing our carbon footprint where practical
- Encouraging low-carbon behaviours in our operations and with clients/production teams
- Making responsible procurement and waste decisions
- Continuously improving our sustainability performance
This policy applies to all staff, freelancers, scouts, contractors, and partners working with or for Location Routes Management Ltd.

- Travel and Transport Policy
Travel and transport are among the largest sources of emissions in film and TV. We will:
- Encourage staff, scouts, and crew to use public transport, car-sharing, cycling, or walking for local journeys where practical.
- Prioritise low-emission or electric vehicles when hiring or using company vehicles (e.g., for scouting or kit delivery).
- Avoid unnecessary journeys — combining site visits, using virtual recces where possible (e.g., video walks, 360 photos).
- Promote route optimisation for controllable roads, low-loaders, and kit deliveries to minimise mileage.
- Record travel data (where relevant) to understand and reduce our transport carbon footprint over time.
- Communicate these principles to productions and encourage them to adopt low-carbon travel planning when using our locations/routes.
- Energy Policy
We will minimise energy consumption across our operations:
- In co-working spaces and storage units: Use energy-efficient lighting, turn off equipment when not in use, choose venues with good energy performance where possible.
- During scouting and on-location work: Avoid unnecessary generator use; where required, prefer hybrid or battery-powered options over diesel/petrol generators.
- Promote energy-saving behaviours (e.g., powering down kit, using natural light where possible).
- When selecting storage or co-working facilities, prioritise sites with renewable energy tariffs or high energy-efficiency ratings.
- Waste Management Policy
We aim to reduce waste and increase reuse/recycling:
- Minimise single-use items (e.g., use reusable signage, props, and kit where possible).
- In co-working/storage spaces: Segregate waste for recycling, reuse packaging materials, avoid unnecessary printing.
- During kit hire and location work: Encourage productions to return kit clean and reusable; dispose of waste responsibly (e.g., through licensed waste carriers if needed).
- Promote the waste hierarchy: Reduce → Reuse → Recycle → Recover → Dispose.
- Track waste generation where practical and identify opportunities to eliminate it.
- Sustainable Procurement Policy
We will make responsible purchasing decisions:
- Prioritise suppliers who demonstrate sustainable practices (e.g., low-carbon transport, ethical sourcing, waste reduction).
- Choose durable, reusable, or second-hand kit and materials where suitable (e.g., refurbished signage, multi-use props).
- Source locally where possible to reduce transport emissions.
- Avoid non-essential purchases and single-use plastics/disposables.
- Prefer products with recognised environmental certifications (e.g., FSC for timber, energy-efficient ratings for equipment).
- Co-working and Storage Space Commitments
As we do not have a permanent office, we apply these principles to co-working spaces and storage units:
- Select venues with green credentials (energy efficiency, recycling facilities, good public transport links).
- Follow venue waste and energy policies.
- Minimise our footprint — avoid leaving lights/equipment on, use digital documents instead of printing.
- Communication and Continuous Improvement
- We will communicate this policy to all staff, freelancers, scouts, contractors, and clients.
- Encourage production teams using our locations/routes/kit to adopt sustainable practices.
- Review this policy annually or after major changes in operations.
- Where possible, track basic carbon data (travel, energy, waste) to measure improvement over time.
- We support albert’s broader goals and will explore using the albert Carbon Calculator for relevant projects if/when applicable.
- Scope and Responsibility
The Director (Oliver Laurenson-Gore) has overall responsibility for this policy. All team members, freelancers, and partners are expected to follow it.
This policy will be reviewed in February 2027 or sooner if required.
