As part of November’s Career Development Month we have spoken to a number of our “Green Room” crew whom are part of Location Routes. This week we spoke to Ryan Fishwick whom is releatively new to the industry but has come a long way in a short amount of time.
1) Tell us about how you got into the Locations or Production Department?
I spent some time researching different departments within the Film and TV industry. Locations ticked a lot of boxes for me. The different challenges that come with each project really appealed to me. No two locations are the same and no two productions are either.
2) What is your biggest achievements and challenges to date so far in your career?
Biggest challenge I would say is getting started. It’s hard to know where to look for opportunities. Biggest achievement I would say is successfully adapting to different locations, my first week was on a beach and my second in a castle.
3) How did you hear about Location Routes?
I met Michelle from Location Routes at a Cine Circle Fair. After speaking with Michelle about what Location Routes offer I decided I really wanted to be involved.
4) What support has Location Routes been able to give you over the past year?
Location Routes has been brilliant! With Location Routes I’ve been able to speak to Oli to gain invaluable CV and career advice. I am also a member of the Location Routes Green Room which is constantly updated with job and career opportunities, I found my first role thanks to the Green Room.
5) What are your future aspirations for your career in Locations or Production Department?
Taking one step at a time but in the long term I am working towards becoming a Location Manager but enjoying learning from each step along the way. One of the things I love most about this career is the variety. I would like to continue working with interesting people in unique locations on a different production types.
Thanks Ryan for your insight and we can’t wait to see what you do next! To sign up to our Talent Crew click here.
